Well as you may have guessed, that’s me, but everyone has always known me as Sam. You might be wondering, who the person behind that name really is. I was born and raised in San Francisco and still love this city today. I live with my twin sister, who is my best friend and inspiration. I have also been lucky enough to meet my boyfriend, who takes great care of me and who mellows me out when I start to stress out. I have been a waitress at varies restaurants around fisherman’s wharf for the past four or so years now. I do like working in restaurants for the most part because I love meeting new people and have also always loved helping people however I can. Now you know the basics, but still this is merely scratching the surface.
Throughout my life I have been through many highs and lows, in which I have turned to my friends, parents and to my art for comfort. I am also into all kinds of music, which I feel goes hand in hand with art. My real passion in life has always been art. Ever since I can remember I have been painting, sketching my friends and doodling on every handout I’ve gotten in class. Mostly, I do sketches and drawings because I love fine detail. Over the years I have used many different kinds of media. Out of everything I would have to say that I usually stick to different pencils, pens, sharpies and markers. For subject matter I typically always draw images of the face and/or human body. There is just something about faces that gets inside my head. I have done a great deal of sketches from real life and photography, but my favorite style is freehand. If I had to describe my style of art, I would have to say that it is an abstract manipulation of the human body. My goal in life is to one to one day be able to use these interests in some form of career. Although, I’m not quite sure how to do that yet and that is why I am here.
What I would like to get out of this class is a steady foundation. I took art classes during all my high school years, but I never felt that I was truly learning enough new techniques or expanding my range of thinking as much as I wanted. I would definitely like to experiment with charcoal, paint and other media that I am not used to working with as much, or that may be strange to me. When it comes to art, I am a perfectionist and will definitely put forth my best efforts in your class. I would also like to learn the basics of art and gain a new and improved perspective of what art is truly about. I am excited for taking this class and I cannot wait to see what it has in store for me.
