Literature Review
Counseling in health is one of the main concerns of the counselors. The professionals in counseling are called health counselors that are well-trained to work under the pressure in achieving the health goals, such as weight management, food craving, sleep, energy, and digestion. A counselor on health works personally to help an individual develop his or her skills and gain the knowledge an individual need for the optimal health in the present and even in the future. In the professional world of counseling, there are available modes that provide the positive impact. The most common counseling mode is the one-on-one counseling that involves only one person aside from the counselor and which is considered the most effective forms. The second is the couples counseling that is popular between a pair of people, couple, or partners. The forth type is the family counseling where the counselor is bound to guide the entire family in achieving their goals in health (Casey, 2009). And the last mode is the group counseling where the counselor became the facilitator for a big number of member in a group. The people within a group maybe different in their status but as long as they have the willingness to work with the health counselor, the group can experience the positive impacts of the counseling.
There are many outcomes recorded which is particularly in the scope of the academic performance and mental health. The counselors offer the services that are also focus in the overall performance of the individuals (Thiebaux, 2006). One consequence of increased demand of counseling services decreases the developmental or prevention programs. Therefore, the counseling services became important services in the entire community. Because of the increased focused on counseling also recognizes the issues or concerns on the roles, financial support the larger mission and the interest that may the people may achieve. Health counseling services also suggested different social and emotional adjustments to achieve the optimal health outcome of the individuals. In addition, the health counseling is also considered as an important factor in predicting the persistence of the health and wellness (Destefano, Mellott, and Petersen, 2001).
Methodology
The applied method of the study is the comparative case study method which can measure the impacts of the counseling on health. Through the comparative case study method, the study can identify or weigh the different outcomes of counseling and evaluate the impact it may create. Based on the past literature or studies, the study can pin-point the missing gap in achieving the best intervention in the counseling where it can be best applied.
