The Tell-Tale Heart

Edgar Allan Poe’s short story “The Tell-Tale Heart” is the narrative of a man who murder’s an innocent human because of his blue vulture looking eyes. Through the depiction of the man’s madness, Poe explores how deceptive the man really was. Although the murderer was portrayed as a madman, he conducted himself with focus and composure. Poe’s suggestion that the man’s behavior doesn’t reflect his anger is developed when he describes his victim, the way he kills the man and the way he conduct’s himself when faced by the officers.
