Introduction
The management will facilitate the Indonesian education and cultural exchange through the implementation of different program, language classes, seminars, and training. The continuous research and development can promote the international global awareness and communication. The role of the management is to monitor the promotion and development of all the facilities that participated in implementing the network of education. The management aims to deliver a sustainable informative aspect of language and the cultural heritage of Indonesia and Manus Province. Part of this duty is the continuous facilitating the proposed program until it reached all its goals and then to be passed for the next generation of educators and learners.
Indonesian language is also applicable to those people came from different fields of study such as anthropology, sociology, history, ethnomusicology, political science, international studies, environment, and forestry that are mostly based in Indonesia. The language learning program and scholarships is attracting the students both internationally and domestic. In return, all the efforts that applied in the pursuance of this kind of education will create a great impact in fully understanding the Indonesian language and culture, as well as the history behind them. The entire management is not only focused on the language itself but also to the politics and science where the learners can apply their proficiency and nature of work or study.
Indonesian Studies in Language Education
Indonesia is the world’s populous country and the largest Muslim country in the world. The people, politics, languages, and culture are the vital walls in understanding the strategic importance of Indonesia. Indonesian language caters competencies and approach in language proficiency, society, and political developments. A student who is planning to pursue the study of Indonesian language can develop their skills and enhance their career options. Indonesian language addresses the different issues such as the political environment. Meanwhile, the cultural and linguistic knowledge provides a foundation for the exploration of Indonesian social organization and strategies for business, trade, and international relations in evolving global communities.
Language and Culture Education
The willingness of the students to undergo the Indonesian studies will learn the stream of Indonesian language, culture, and their background. The opportunities that the students will gain are appropriate in their qualified skills in political economics, sociology, linguistics, literature, and aspects of culture studies. Language learners indeed held preconceived ideas about the different language and cultures and about how it should best be learnt. The success in language acquisitions can be associated with the social context of learning, cultural beliefs about the language, the status of the target language and the process. The learning situations as well as the roles should interact within the language learning process.
The characteristic of the learner is also part in determining the learning outcomes which comes in a form of personality traits, learning style, learning strategies and attitudes. The language learners possesses a natural set of language learning like their own interest in learning such language that can eventually affects the language learning practices. The listening, speaking, reading, and writing are the four language skills that are always part of teaching activities and can boost all the learners’ ability to comprehend. Beside from the full understanding and knowledge, the commitment is another evidential factor to become successful in language proficiency.
Outcomes
Developing the ability to speak, read, and write Indonesian language can be a step to learn the basic vocabulary and sentence pattern. This enables the students to communicate well even in a simple manner. Besides from the development of the Indonesian speaking and listening, the communicative competence can reinforce into other languages that promotes proficiency. Part of it is to understand the Indonesian society that can consolidate and expand their knowledge.
With modern developments in technology and communications, Indonesians can interact with increasing frequency through business and tourism. Educating the people with knowledge of Indonesia’s history and culture and with the ability to communicate with the Indonesian people can establish disciplines that will benefit in their future careers.
