Introduction
One of the deadliest cases of death is HIV or AIDS. This transmitted disease is very common on the sex workers or through the unprotected sex. This disease can be prevented and there is an ongoing medical exploration to find an effective cure to this kind of disease. But to measure the effectiveness of the medications and treatment will count ten or more years before being available in health care facilities. In this reason, it is true that prevention still works that cure.
Background of the Study and Problem Statement
Human Immunodeficiency Virus is also known as HIV and results to Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome or AIDS when the virus is fully developed. Experts identified the virus can potentially live in the human body for about 15 years before it gets notices and technically declared as an infection. Although the symptoms are not visible, still the virus is still transmittable. Aside from this truth, is the human population is aware about the in-depth explanation on HIV. What is the level of the efficacy on HIV and AIDS awareness most especially on schools and among the adolescents?
Research Objectives
The objectives of the study center in the issues of HIV and AIDS most especially in the young population. First is to identify the efficacy of the HIV/AIDS awareness to fight the disease. Second is to determine the different actions of the schools and their administrators in relaying the ideas about the HIV and AIDS. And third is to place another push that can contribute to the initial step of the schools and their administrators in explaining the deadly disease.
Research Questions
The study recognized the impact and importance of the issue in the society and because of that, there are three essential questions considered in the study.
1. What are the initial efforts of the schools and other concerned organizations to help the students gain knowledge about the HIV and AIDS?
2. What are the common behaviors of the students about the prevention program?
3. What are the considerable facts that pertain to the effectiveness of the HIV/AIDS awareness program?
Literature Review
Preventing HIV is the most effective way to avoid the risks involved. Through abstinence or self-discipline the HIV can be prevented. A person should not involve him or herself in sharing the needles and through the unprotected sex, and even the different sexual activities (AFAO, 2001; Miller, 2007). Through that, the risk can be fully eliminated. Another important learning or information that can be part on the education for the youth is the continuous monitoring and evaluation. This habit can enable the person to lead the progress against the HIV/AIDS in accordance to the main objective of the education. The measurement of the effectiveness of the various discovered intervention can be part of the overall program. Usually, the education about the HIV aims on three factors. First is to prevent the new infections through the use of the communication that is typically found among the students. Second is to give idea on how to deal or manage the existing infections through the promotion of the available medical intervention, counseling, testing, and organizations of the ideas. And third is to lessen the effects of the HIV/AIDS in the population of the youth (Lutalo, 2006). Therefore, it is important that there is an education for the youth is the most important technique that can minimize the effects of HIV in the mortality rate of every country.
Methodology
The applied method in the study is through the use of questionnaire. The participants will answer the questions based on their observation regarding the education for the youth. The participants are all school teachers and administrators that are in favor in the educating the youth with regards to the HIV and AIDS. The participants’ age, gender, number of working experience, and position were gathered as part of the data and their opinions are the most weighted answer to measure the efficacy of HIV awareness.
Conclusion
Efficacy on the awareness can be only measured if the students, most especially the adolescents, s learn the naked truth about the HIV. It involves the knowledge on determining how the virus is being transmitted, who are the person that might be affected by such virus, the prevention mechanisms, available treatment or medication and the different ways in knowing if the person is being infected by the HIV. It is also important that the students are aware about the different organizations that might help them if they were infected by such virus.
