Introduction
Hospitality industry that is also called as tourism is enormously growing and can satisfy the need of one’s country for development. This growth of tourism’s popularity gave way to different business’s to provide products and services in which they can deliver or make the tourists experience the delights in their country. Most of the business analysts and economists world widely agreed that the growth of the tourism can support the aim of the country for its own development and foster the actions for development in competing with the international market.
Background of the Study and Problem Statement
Tourism offered opportunity in the countries that specialized in delivering hospitality and a better future for the developing and underdeveloped countries. All of the countries that offered culture, heritage, history, and others are bound to represent their country in the different destinations that can mesmerize the eyes of the tourists. Long-built castle, enormous bridges, and old-aged monuments are part of the tourism which underpins the development in economy, environment, social, and cultural (Cihar and Silovsky 2002). As the main topic of the study, based on the perspective of the operators, can sustainability in the economy be possible?
Research Objectives
The study identified three essential objectives. Firstly, is to recognize the sustainability of the hospitality industry based on the perspective of the tour operator. Secondly, is to identify the effects or impacts of the hospitality in the overall performance of the country. And thirdly, is to promote the other related efforts involved in the hospitality industry to achieve the sustainability.
Research Questions
The study prepared several questions that will take an effect in the completion of the entire paper. All of the questions presented are related in the current situation of the tourism businesses and as well as in industry itself.
1. What are the current changes that were recognized by the tour operators?
2. What are the efforts of the tourism businesses that can affect the development of the industry?
3. What are the clues or hints being recognized by the operators to identify that there is an important factor for the sustainability?
Literature Review
Sustainable tourism does not stand alone in the industry of tourism. There are many things to be considered in determining if the country is sustainable enough to support the principles of tourism and the sustainable development. Every country promotes different tourist attraction such as the historical background, human environment, and nature. Sustainable tourism is a kind of tourism that is associated with infrastructures that is present and future operations. To specify the word ‘sustainable’, the tourism of one country should operate within the natural capacities for the regeneration and future productivity of natural resources being recognized the contribution of people and the communities. Part of it the customs and lifestyles to make tourism inevitable for the visitors which in return, acquire the equal share of economic benefits of people and the communities in the host areas (Butler, 1999). In other words, sustainable tourism is also based on the destination which is an emerging recognition in promoting sustainable development at every destination (Lee, 2000). To answer the popularity growth of the area subject for tourism, the on going development is established that bounds to meet the present needs without compromising the future preferences (Butler, 1999). With these sustainable developments, further project and proposal has been part of every strategic approach in developing a sustainable tourism destination. This sustainable tourism destination can be scoped in two different aspects. One is managing all the resources that are allocated for tourism which only focuses on the needs of the tourists and the host community, and the other is taken to consider all or broader view of developing the sustainability of the destination (Lee, 2000).
Methodology
The method in the study is the use of the interview and the participants are the tour operators. The qualification included are the age, gender, number of years employed, and position of the tour operators. Those qualifications are required to identify the level of understanding of the participants.
Conclusion
Since the applied method is the interview, the perspectives of the tour operators are fully emphasized. The tour operators are the people who witnesses most of the changes that happens in the economy and they recognize the ongoing structures that definitely created an appeal to their clients or to the tourists. The ongoing development of the site gives a great factor to facilitate the growth of the economy. But on the other hand, the tour operators also recognize negative impacts especially on the conservation of the land and other protected areas.
