Introduction
The level of education in the every country depends on the demand level of the economy. Sometimes, the education can be based on the level of knowledge of the learners. The education, on the other hand, is the freedom of all children and therefore, they must use that freedom wherein they can build their future.
Background and Problem Statement
Within a diversified classroom, the teachers might discover the differences among their students. The differences can be in terms of their understanding and communications skills. During the early age of the child, the differences can be appeared among them is which makes them exceptional among the others. Most of the time, their difference can be beneficial or hindrance on their well-being. Due to this recognized differences, various schools establish a kind of setting in which they can be more on focus on the exceptional students through the use of the mainstreaming. However, there are effects that can reflect on the future of the children through the use of the mainstreaming.
Research Objectives
The first objective of the study is to recognize the presence of the mainstreaming among the primary schools. The second objective is to identify the various effects of mainstreaming among the children with mild exceptionalities.
Literature Review
Exceptional children and youths are those who require special education and related services if they are to realize their full human potential. They require special education because they are markedly different from most children in one or more of the following ways: They may have mental retardation, learning disabilities, emotional or behavioral disorders, physical disabilities, disorders of communication, autism, traumatic brain injury, impaired hearing, impaired sight, or special gifts or talents. There are two concepts are important to our educational definition of exceptional children and youths – one is the diversity of characteristics and the other is the need for special education. The concept of diversity is inherent in the definition of exceptionality; the need for special education is inherent in an educational definition. The idea of mainstreaming or he practice of bringing the students in an isolation of special schools is centered on the issue of meeting their needs. And in order to meet their needs, there should be certain adjustment that is entirely on the part of the education and the education settings. But too much mainstreaming diminishes the influence of socializing and the process of communication.
Methodology
The proposed method in the study is the use of the interview method. Through the method, the study can build an empirical ground regarding to the state of the education. The state of the education among the children differs on the level of their situation and on the level of their understanding. Through the use of the interview, the participants can have their own freedom to establish the communication and can give their own opinion regarding the problems that is not yet been discussed in any contexts. Through the different perspective of the teachers and parents, their observation regarding the effects of the mainstreaming among the children can be elaborated.
Data Collection
The participants are divided into two groups – the first is the group of the teachers and the other is the group of the parents. The data such as age, gender, and the years of experience in handling children with mild exceptionalities were taken among the educators. These data can affect their own perspective and the result of the study. However, on the side of the parents, the data can be based on how many children do they have with mild exceptionalities are taken. Through the situations and experience of the parents in handling their children, there is a great possibility that there entire perceptions are based on those experiences.
