Energy Crisis

Energy is often defined as the ability to do work. However, energy can not be created or destroyed. But energy can be converted from one form to another. We as humans rely too much on one source of energy which is oil. Being that oil is used a variety of ways in everyday life it has caused the demand to be very high, and the supply to be limited. Being that the supply of oil is limited the price over the years has been fluctuating, and in the past 10 years the price has only increased. And one day we will face an energy crisis.

The United States main source is oil which I consider to be a down fall on our part as one of the leading nations. Even though the U.S. has oil reserved in case of a crisis, the U.S. should have another alternative as a source of energy. However, the U.S. is working on another source of energy it is just taking time to develop. Funds for research and development are being invested in Nuclear Power. And limited funds are being used for solar energy. The U.S. also established the Clean Air Act to encourage the use of methanol gas as another form of energy other than oil.

Japan on the other hand is conserving oil building large oil storage facilities. And in the future Japan is trying to be defined as the “Leaders of Solar Energy”. For the reason that if they was to unlock the door that has solar energy captured they will become one of the most powerful countries and an even stronger nation. Japan believes that we should use knowledge to help create energy efficiency.

China has vast reserves of coal. Coal has caused China to be one of the top leaders of pollution. But China does plan to build more nuclear plants as another source of energy, along with creating programs that are trying to develop methanol gas. China also is trying to become the first developers of the “Peoples Car”, inn addition to developing renewable energy sources.

The United States, Japan, and China have all taken responsibility in trying to prevent the energy crisis. I understand that nuclear energy is being considered as another source of energy, but nuclear plants are very dangerous. Along with being very dangerous there is also no way to get rid of the nuclear waste. If a leak was to occur at one of the nuclear plants many people could get cancer. In addition to those that may become infected if they were to produce children, their children will more than likely have birth defects and abnormalities. However, I do believe that everyone should focus more on an energy that will be more beneficial than harmful. For the reason that, we should keep in mind that we are trying to prevent one crisis, and not create a new crisis.
