Reflection essay

One of the sweetest experiences is to be with the company of a child. It is genuinely delightful to hear them laugh, watch them play, hold their miniature hands. Whenever their soft little hands touch your face, you get such an overwhelming feeling of love and emotion. That is why, among other things, I feel a deep compassion for children deprive of capabilities that will hinder them in reaching their future dreams. Thus, I am full of determination to be a part of their success and fulfillment. I wanted to prepare myself and to become competent. I believe that by studying out of the country, I will be able to fulfill these children’s dreams as well as mine.

To be with children is what had enlightened me to study in the Department of Early Childhood in the School of Humane and Social Sciences. I love to be with children as I love to learn many other things. Aside from graduating in the School of Humane and Social Sciences, I have also received a certificate on computers obtaining a Level 2 in office applications. I have used my skills and keenness for intercultural studies to make a successful transition from one language and culture to another. Thus, my linguistic attainment is as versatile as my educational achievements. I have a native competence in the Greek language, a very good knowledge of the English tongue and reached a certificat level in French. I am confident that these skills can help me in my chosen course of study.

By God’s grace, I was able to have chances to be with children in my previous work experiences. Under the supervision of my professor in the University of Patras, I was able to do my practice in a school with children who have special needs. In Kalamata, I have worked in a Child Psychological Centre and also have some experiences as a tutor to young pupils.

As a teacher, I wanted to be further enriched with more knowledge by studying abroad, particularly in the United Kingdom. I wished to take up postgraduate studies there specializing in the Special Educational Needs and Specific Learning Difficulties. My educational background, my studies and work experiences will enable me to succeed in the highly demanding course of study that I have chosen. Finally, the excellence of your school and training, together with my abilities and determination, will enable me to achieve my goals of helping other children.
