Introduction
In the challenging world of the globalization and the competitiveness in the market, various strategies are being applied by the business leaders wherein they believe they can gain more advantage. From the continuous training and development of the workforce, to the product development and innovativeness of the services in different industries, there is no doubt that the business leaders are not running out of options on how to make their organization rise above the others. Aside from the traditional form of gaining the competitive advantage, the collaboration of the human knowledge to the creation of the technologies is also assessed as the greatest factor that can change the level of performance of the organization. Driving to the technologies, the precious mind of the propellers keeps on viewing for the better future of their business if there is an appropriate system that an expert can manage. Through this main idea, the collaboration of the information technology and the human skills and knowledge is possible.
The MIS
MIS is the shortened term applied in the Management Information System. The propellers or the business leaders believe that the system or the process can provide the entire organization the necessary information according to their inquiry in which in return, can used by the organization. The effective management of the information system can help the people generate valid decisions. In the continuous approach of he organization in the development makes it possible for their adaptation in the innovative world of technologies. MIS firstly should have a clear framework of guidelines, policies or practices, standards, and procedures depending on the nature of the organization. This is a requirement if the organization attempts to create a system in order to achieve their corporate goal.
MIS in Service Based Organizations
The application of the MIS in an industry should be aligned on the organizations long-term goals and objectives. In this basic way, there is an assurance that through the continuous practice, the aid of the MIS can be felt and influence the organization’s success. In service-based organization, the application of the MIS in their system is design to achieve the goals in connecting the people to the consumers. There are three areas that the MIS can explore, first is the enhancement of the communication among the employees. This is an essential role because without appropriate way of communication, the right answer on the consumer needs cannot the delivered. Second is delivering the complex material throughout the institution. This sequential approach is an active action of the people after the communication. And third is to provide an objective system wherein there would be aggregated information. The last phase of the MIS process in service establishes the importance of the coordination in all other parts of the organization. The coordination may come in the data gathering or brainstorming. These activities can help the entire organization to reduce its expenses and deliver the success. The most common result upon the application of the MIS is the improvement in the decision making processes among the senior levels because of the provided information. Other than that, the MIS also affects the improvement in the performance of the workforce according on their job.
But aside from the promised success in the involvement of the MIS in the service-based organization, the effective application of the MIS in an organization should ensure that the entire system can endure or avoid the risks involved in the management. Commonly, there are four main elements that affect the implementation in the service. Through the policies or practices, operational processes, staff and management, and the adaptation of the feedback devices, the alignment of the MIS in the organization’s goals and objective are based.
MIS in Manufacturing Based Organization
It is very obvious that through use of the technologies and their innovative advances, the manufacturing industry can claim their advantage in the market. Unlike, the service industry, the manufacturing industry doesn’t have to communicate personally to the consumers to deliver their needs. In fact, they should be the one to produce a product that would be the basis of the consumers’ needs. Still, the application of the decision makings is important in the manufacturing process. The appropriateness and/or relevant of the decision in the industry is very influential in the overall manufacturing process of the organization. With the aid of MIS, there is an increase potential in creating the development in their products.
Conclusion
Both service and manufacturing industry enable to use the concept of MIS and it can be only effective if the MIS is aligned with the goals and objectives of the organization. The application of the MIS can be another strategy for the business leaders and can be the cause of the changes or alignment of the organization’s different areas.
