Concentration and Focusing

Introduction

The concentration and focus of an individual varies depending on the amount of interests a person placed on it. Moreover, the concentration and focus arrives in the person’s need to develop himself or to achieve his goal. The idea revolves around the concentration and focuses are almost similar in like ways but different on how the people apply the ideas. Concentration is the ability of the person to be aware or his attentiveness while the focus is the heart or the focus.

The Individual’s Concentration

Being concentrate and focus is easy to say and yet difficult to employ if the person is not aware on what the things he should pay attention and what is the center of all his efforts. The person’s ability to comprehend is natural and accumulated throughout his experiences and explorations about his environment. In the game, especially when a person is working with his team or in any corporate affairs wherein the individual is working with his colleagues, the concentration is vital to fully understand the goal of the entire team and/or colleagues. The ability of the person to maintain his concentration is sometimes affected by the pressures around him. And because of the disturbance, the effort of the person to concentrate on his duties is sometimes distracted. The result or outcome can be inevitable and sometimes fall under the negative outcome. Because of the self-doubt or distractions, the concentration of the person to perform well diminishes.

Paying attention to the right things are the most common important factor that a student should learn, or the most vital characteristic of the employee. Paying attention in the environment is important to absorb the idea included in the current lesson or in the business reports. The attention or awareness of the person enables him to prepare for the other strategies. Through the right amount of concentration, the person can open his mind about the things that he should do or otherwise what should be avoided. The techniques created in his mind are important to excel in the field (Herr, 1998, p. 2).

The Individual’s Focus

After placing the right amount of concentration, the focus is the next thing that he should follow. If the person already knows what are the things that needed to focus is considered as his own advantage. The primary challenge that he needs to identify is to place additional effort of what are the things that is needed to workout (Herr, 1998, p. 3). Sometimes, the focus of the person depends on the situation presented before him such as the practice as part of the organizational culture or the competition within the workplace or any other type of settings. Usually, a person acts depends on the things closer to him and not being prepared on what are next situations after that. The focus will help the person determine his direction in reaching his goals. And through navigating all the plans, the person can realize his fulfillment at the end of his track.

An individual should develop his knowledge and skills which are requirements in their successful focus towards their target such as the competitive job or athletic sport. Most of the success or failure of the person in achieving his goal plays in the idea of his focus. There were identified four different focuses that a person normally possesses. First is the broad external focus which determines the level of the focus of the person on his sensitivity and awareness about his surroundings. Second is the broad internal focus that usually found on the CEOs for they have the ability to use different learning and skills in strategically find solutions on different problems. Third is the narrow internal focus wherein an individual is focused on the system or procedures in accomplishing specific task. And lastly is the narrow external focus where the efforts applied are executed in getting the work done, such as using other tools that can help the person in performing or finishing the job (Darrin, 2003, p. 3-4).

Conclusion

Through the exploration of the person’s ability to concentrate and focus, the achievement of his goals is not impossible if and only he set his full understanding as well as his mind and heart in achieving his goal. Individuals should understand that setting the goal is not enough to complete the dream. But achieving it is the reality and realization of his dream.
