For the past years, the medium for communicating had abruptly influence every minute of our lives. The innovation began and still yearning to have an evolution. The Media is entirely refers to various means of communication such as television, radio, newspaper, films and other types that will transfer information. Media can also in a form of data gathering and storing it, as well. In the computer media, it could be in a form of hard drives, removable drives or disks, flash memory, anything related to it.
Many children are aware about the existence of media and its source of information. The media literacy is somewhat a way of learning which is both good and bad for the children. At a very young age they got so much information, compressed in a minimum time and spend almost their time sitting in front of TV than reading their textbooks. The kind of knowledge acquired is through the portal of computer and telecommunications, that capable in serving raw virtual reality and imageneering. The technology of today’s represent a startling fusion of sight and sound that frequently make it difficult for us to discern illusion from reality or the separation between the facts from friction. The media are considered both entertaining and educational, for some aspects like in the form of news broadcasting. The transferring of information can be in given accuracy and authenticity in all forms.
But media literacy is more than just consuming information, it is also the ability of an individual to produce, create and successfully communicate information. The media literacy is a responsive way in answering the changing nature of information in the society. The full concept of media literacy is widely accepted as; the ability to access, analyzes, evaluate, and communicate information in a variety of format including print and non-print. Like the traditional literacy, it includes the ability to both read and write, to be able to recognize and comprehend information to the higher order critical thinking skills.
The principles of media literacy for some people are aware or not. The media provide the construction difference relationship between reality and the representations of reality. The media shows a world that is fully selected and carefully assembled to make it seems all but true. The learning here, is to distinguish the things that only the reflection of reality.
A part of the principle is to conceptualize the audiences as recipients of media messages. Exploring the different perceptions and perspectives students have about programs offers an important opportunity for young people to understand the difference and similarities. This is the way of giving the audience negotiate their own meaning or perspectives. An additional principle is its construction to have commercial purposes by simply giving the public what the public wants. Part of the media’s principle is to convey messages that contain values and ideologies. The messages can also have social and political consequences that explore the relationship between image and influence, the way the media show and shape, reflect and reinforce in reality, and last, understanding the presentation made. One principle is giving each medium to have a unique aesthetic form, or in the form of conceptualization. This kind of principle enables the viewer to understand the unique characteristics and attributes of each medium.
However, the media is not that confident enough to avoid the criticism. There are people who still believe in the traditional learning, that the issue related to this is about the time and effort of the parents’ spends on their children. For some, the media is not always helpful in the growth of the children or the child’s baby sitter.
The purpose of social media is about conversations and sharing, and the application of acquisition tactics, power manipulation and common trickery are part of the social media. Some people assumed that social media is a sit to gain something on another, or about the links and perceived power. Thus, the success of social media is not based to the number of links acquired. The social media is being transparent of what kind of heart the bearer has.
There are many categories that the media can be identified. The judgment in the outcome of the media is based on the assessment of the one who is receiving the information. It is surely based on their assumption on how they will take the raw information presented. At some point, the existence of media, in different forms, had brought a great impact in our everyday life. The media, in so many ways, has only two main objectives; it’s either to entertain or to inform. A media that is concerned in the age range of the viewers only protects the innocent minds of the children. At some issue related, the interaction of the children in the different forms of media without the guidance of parents is a big risk.
