Organization’s Leadership Style

The Iceland Foods Ltd, is based in UK and enjoyed the sales over billions euros and employ more than 17, 000 people. The company’s staffs agreed that working for Iceland feels like being part of the family. The Leadership Style of the company is based on the principle of Laissez- Faire or also called as the “hands-off style”. It is because the manager or the leader provides a little or no direction and gives staff as much freedom as possible. With this kind of principle, all the authority or power given to the staff can help them determine their goals, make decisions, and resolve problems, whether personal or not, only with their own skills.

The Laissez-Faire is an effective style when the staff highly skilled, trustworthy, experienced, and educated about the nature of the work. The staff themselves should have the strong sense of pride in their work and the drive to do it successfully on their own. The outside experts, such as staff specialists or consultants can be use.

In contrast, the “hands off” leadership is not applicable to the staffs that have the insecurity at the unavailability of their leader or manager. The managers who cannot provide regular feedback to staff on how well the employees are doing are also considered as not a good leader. It also includes that managers who are unable to thank their staff for their good work, these managers can lessen the pride or confidence of the staffs. And lastly, the manager who doesn’t understand his or her responsibilities is not an effective leader because he tends to trust and rely to the staff to do all the work for him.

Organizational Culture

As part of the company’s culture, they believe that the key to success in retailing is looking after their customer’s satisfaction that made this fact as their mission. Meanwhile, the company was expected their employees to stand on their own feet, and to be treated by other colleagues with respect and be part of a team where everyone is willing to work and cooperate. And in return, the employees will feel the sense of pride about their work and common purpose. “A good place to work” is the company’s best attribute.

Improvement and Maintaining the Organization

The company simplified their business process by focusing on their traditional strengths in terms of innovation. The idea about the value-for-money and making life simple for their customers through round sum-pricing are integrated within the organization. All the ideas and principles are applied to the way they work, ensuring a clear focus on the things that really matter like the service and quality of the products. The entire organization gives their employees clear objectives and expectations about their jobs and aims for achievement. At the same time, the company should maintain and allow more freedom for individual initiative than most other retailers, believing that it is ultimate to give the customers the personal touch.

The leadership style and the good foundation make the company live and fast-paced in their field. It also invite the new ideas and suggestions and willing to try it all. The management that is never afraid to take decisions, and keen to get things done will be more successful in the long-run. The Iceland is a successful and growing business, and the business believes that to maintain the moments they had, they have to make fulfilling their people’s ambitions as their obligation. It is good for a company that have a collection who are willing to work and pride with their training and development. In addition, paying close attention to the individual performance is designed to identify strengths, ambitions and potential, and are strongly committed to provide opportunities for those who with to develop their careers within Iceland.

Best Leadership

To determine the best leadership style, the leaders should be more oriented about their tasks and relationships toward the people. The leaders have a dominant style, one they use in a wide variety of situations. The entire organization and their people should understand that there’s no best style, so that it is a challenge for the leaders to adjust their leadership style to the situation as well as to the people being led.

There are many different aspects of being a great leader and their role required to play different leadership style to be successful. Lastly, every leadership style can handle the financial crisis, but inconsideration of the idea on how they leas, the Autocratic Leadership has its advocates but failed to be accepted by other countries. The Autocratic idea is about holding everything that is according to the leader’s idea and own view.
