Introduction
Electronic Payslips or E-Payslips is the secure electronic delivery of the employee’s payslip that represents and replace the conventional payslip documents through the use of an e-mail or accessible online software. The process of the E-delivery has become an integral part of the business logistics and process in the communications through enhancing the employees’ interaction. It is believed that sending payslips through the personal accounts of the employees add value to an employee relationship management process as it is more efficient and effective.
Background of the Study and Problem Statement
The instant communications are being applied in the organizations and now in the Human Resource Department. In the introduction of Electronic Payslips, it is viewed that an employee can have an advantage an advantage to download and view his or her payslip through the secured website provided by the company. This communication is a sound innovation for communication and technology (The Birmingham Post, 2008). This provides a basis for a successful contact between the management and its people. But aside from the technological and communication breakthrough, what are the impacts of the electronic payslip on the employee relationship management? And this is the main question of the study.
Research Objectives
The research study regarding the electronic payslip is fueled by the objectives that can help the proponents as well as the outcome of the study satisfy the needs of clarifying the involved issues. The first objective is to help the electronic payslips being introduced in the business sectors. The second is that the study aims to serve good evidence upon its implementation across the human resource department or payroll officers. And lastly, to deliver the possible effects or impact of the electronic payslip on the employees, organization, and entire industry who are in the middle of choices between the regular payroll and electronic payslip.
Research Questions
To achieve the possible outcome of the study, the research questions are crafted and used as a guideline in determining the impact of the electronic payslip.
1. How to understand the electronic payslip or e-payslip?
2. What are the regulations that that an employee should follow in terms of electronic payslip?
3. What are the security features of the electronic payslip that satisfies the privacy of an employee?
4. What are benefits that an e-payslip can provide?
Literature Review
The contents of the employee electronic payslip is usually composed of the range of the pay period such as the details onto the hours and earnings, deductions, and additional earning if there is any paid overtime (VPAF, 2006). In other words, the electronic payslip should contiain the same elements like the regular hard copy and advisable that it should be non-editable data, similar to the use of portable document file or PDF (NRA, 2007). It is important that under the workplace relations system, it is not simple to generate a payslip and store it on a database for employees to access (Hewitt Assoc., 2009. There are several regulations that need to follow before the issuance on the personal mail other means of access in order to protect the credibility of the system. It is also recommended that the guideline and best practices should be applied on it.
Methodology
The applied method to determine the answers as well as determining its effectiveness is through the reviews of the accounts of the organizations implemented the same e-payslip processes. In this way, the research can fully understand the payroll calculation applied, determine the benefits it may bring to the employees and to the organization, and the issues of security features.
Conclusion
The result of the solution they applied is in the concept of an “alive system” of communication that standardized the data collection and process. Moreover, there are some evidences that show that the e-payslips establish a strong partnership of the employees and management. The electronic payslip is another technology driven and innovative solution of the organizations that emphasizes the concerns of the workforce. Their aim to keep the communication alive and information to flow is a different kind of strategy but views to deliver the efficiency.
