In my life; a 12 year old life I have had lots of gifts. Some small others big. Most of those gifts I use them and then give them to other family members. But like I said most of them I give them away when I grow tiered of them but very very few I really treasure. For some I even like to show them of in a glass case. But the one I plan to keep for the rest of my life is a car model. It is the nicest gift anyone has ever gotten me. Stick with me and you will find out why.
My obsession over cars started six years ago. When my 19 year old uncle bought a model car on his birthday I went berserk. Every time I would go to his house I would go directly to his room to play with it. Every two weeks I would find a new car in the shelf to me at that time a new car on the shelf would mean more fun for me. Then one day when I got to his house all the cars were locked up behind a glass door. I asked him why he did that and all he gave me was ‘You play with them to much’. Those six words ate me alive. I decided that if I was to ever play with a model car again I had to get one for myself.
Earning 12 dollars was almost an impossible task for a six year old. It started from getting cents from the cup board to digging nickels under the sofa. After a while 5 dollars to be exact I gave up. Since I knew my birthday was coming up I told every one I wanted a car. After quite a while of spreading the rumor I waited for that special day to arrive. I would still go to my uncle’s house and play with the small, unshiny, plastic car admiring the cars in isolation from any greedy hands. The cars would gleam under the spotlights making me more anxious for my car.
Then 2 weeks later my birthday was here. All of my family was their with gifts and open arms to accompany the gifts. The gifts were placed in a table next to the cake. I would try to peek inside the wrappings and layers of color full paper but could not. Even though I still could not open my presents I had a very good time in my party. Their was lots of laughing and talking and dancing. I would ask my cousins what they got me but they wouldn’t say. When the party was over some people left but most stayed. We went home to open my presents I had gotten lots of presents by the way I opened some and hoped their would be my dream gift but no. When all the gifts were opened all I had gotten were toys and clothes. But their in the corner was a little gift when I opened it their it was my first model car.
That car belonged to my uncle it was his first car. I felt very good. After a while I decided I would work with my grandpa I bought more cars witch ended up in 21 model cars and one in a glass case.
