Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)

Introduction

Diseases and other illness are the common suspects in the increasing rate of mortality. Because of the rapid changes such as the evolution of the diseases and the continuous negligence of the people in their health status, the diseases became harmful. Moreover, there are silent threats that can affect the entire body. Many experts said that the lifestyle of the patient is the driving force towards the evolution of the disease. In addition, once the patient has been diagnosed of the said disease, their compliance in following the prescriptions is often ignored or neglected by the patients which triggers in the serious cases.

Background and Problem Statement

The systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is another type of case that destroys not only the organs but also the confidence of the patients. The use of the alternative medication without the accredited knowledge is one main problem that the health care providers are attempting to resolve. Both doctors and patients should be aware on the successful management of the disease that somehow involves the understanding and partnership to achieve the specific goals (Chambers, Rahman, & Isenberg, 2008). Although the medical professionals are focused in discovering the available solutions to this disease, the treatment and continuous adherence are still important. However, how important is the level of compliance of the patients in order to achieve the quality of health and wellness?

Research Aim and Objectives

The main aim of the study is to investigate the evolution of the SLE among the patents. In order to achieve this goal, the study should consider the four objectives. First is to describe the typical consultations given by the clinicians or the health care provider towards their patients. Second is to determine the various campaigns and spread of information regarding the SLE in a certain community. Third is to recognize the effectiveness of support coming from the patient’s family to enhance their compliance in medicines and treatments. And lastly is to determine the level of compliance of the patients in treating the SLE.

Literature Review

The concern of the health professionals is based on their prescriptions and modes of medications or treatment according to the needs of the patients. The deep understanding and compliance of the patient regarding their health situation is indeed needed. Usually, the treatment is usually based on how will the body react and the mind of the patient follow the said procedure of the health care providers for their overall improvement. In all parts of medical treatment, the level of adherence and compliance of the patient is important to achieve their own quality health expectations (McElhone, et al., 2005). The health care professionals are present to provide the needs and generate the conclusions regarding the situation of the patient. But the evolution of the disease lies in either negligence or compliance and adherence of the patients (Chambers, Rahman, & Isenberg, 2008).

The compliance of the patients on the prescriptions starts through the basic consultations. The physicians can apply the medical methods to assess the situation of the patient and create thoroughly treatment procedures with accuracy. The heath care professionals expected that their recommendations and follow up medications can significantly create an impact towards the improvement in the current health situation of the patient. In the issue of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), the patients are advised to have a regular consultation towards their regular medications that can be investment in a successful management of their illness (Beresford & Davidson, 2006).

Methodology

The suggested method in the study is the use survey and interview. In the first phase of the study, the survey will be conducted on the patients having the case of SLE. The participation of the family or one member of the family is also assumed to be part of the survey. Through the use of the Likert Scale, the researcher/s can identify the level of understanding of the patients regarding their case as well as the level of their compliance and sticking unto what the health care professional prescribed. In the second phase of the study, the interview will be given to the health care professionals or consultants of the patients. In this way, the researcher/s can gain the basic idea for the adherence and compliance of the patients as well as its importance in recovery and achieving the quality of health. Through the interview, the study can justify if the compliance among the patients or their negligence affects the evolution of the disease or at least minimize its risks.
