Cawleys, since its establishment in 1947, was committed in providing environment-friendly customer service as waste management and recycling company. The Company’s tradition is based on the philosophy that local recycling is a global responsibility. With the changing terms of contemporary lifestyles of people and society as well as the growing global awareness and concern about the environment and its welfare, Cawleys persistently improved their service delivery by being a forefront of new recycling and waste management technology. The advocacy of Cawleys and its management are among the acknowledged and outstanding innovative businesses that mixed up entrepreneurial and environmental sense of purpose and direction. Their competitive position as service providing company in their respective industry is at utmost advantage and their environmental participation is a humble act not only to their local coverage but for the entire humanity as well.
Cawleys was established by Reg Crawley, an experienced civil engineer and initially known as Stanbridges (Luton) Ltd. The early years of the Company was mainly concentrated on addressing increasing civil engineering and associated haulage contracts and other construction and engineering related services (i.e. road building, earth moving, transportation for sand and ballast industry, etc.). With the expanding coverage and projects of the Company, opportunities also grew resulting to the Company’s principal business – waste management. It was a family owned business where Reg Cawley was the sole owner and handed the Company to his sons Jonathan and Brian after his death. As years passed by, the Company gave attention to waste disposal side of business as it flourished rapidly with 40 vehicles and associated plant and equipment. The growing popularity of the business paved its way in having larger clientele and built a Waste Restoration Factory and purchased new transport depot. Up to the present, Cawleys is motivated in providing waste management and disposal services to people and companies as clients. To meet the demands of their target market, they introduced innovations in technology through specialised equipment so as to provide a full range of waste management services. Looking on the business operations of the Company, it is initially identified that it is a mixture of business and pro-environment advocacy. The key benefit of Cawleys is their act of reusing and recycling wastes that are traditionally destined for landfill for everyone’s benefit. With this act, other benefits follow particularly in terms of environment and its welfare. The good intensions on the Company are rooted on its services regardless of economic motivations. By looking on the earth-friendly line of business and operations, the whole Company itself is unique and could make total difference.
To end, Cawleys is a company that should be imitated. The global concerns and issues on waste are escalating and bring out further damages to societies and its people. Through the practices that Cawleys implement, the plague can be controlled. Although it is a profit-oriented business, Cawleys is still admirable as it came up with an idea of caring the environment while earning simultaneously. Its continuous challenge on people is evident as if they are saying, “As long as there are wastes, we will persist!” Cawleys’ tradition of local recycling inspires people to care for the environment and eventually making it a universal responsibility. Perhaps, Cawleys and its people aim to eventually free the world from all sorts of wastes.
