To help make your decision on whom to induct into the New Jersey Hall of Fame, I will give some background information on John Joseph Travolta.
John was born on February 18, 1954 to Salvador and Helen Travolta in Englewood, New Jersey, and is the youngest of six children. He should be inducted into the Hall of Fame because he is very well rounded. John Travolta is an Academy Award nominated actor, singer, and dancer.
In his earlier years, he moved to New York City to get a job as a performer. Travolta landed the roles of Danny Zuko in the Broadway plays Grease and Over Here! singing the song “Dream Drummin”. Eventually he moved to Los Angeles to improve his career in show business. John Travolta achieved his first major movie role by staring as Billy Nolan in the horror film Carrie in 1976. A year earlier he had landed yet another star-making role as Vincent Barbarino in the television sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter (1975-1979). Within the next few years he appeared in some of his most memorable screen roles: Tony Manero in Saturday Night Fever (1977) and Danny Zuko in Grease (1978). In the theatrical version of Grease, Travolta performed in almost all of the songs on the soundtrack album which sold more than 10 million copies that year. In 1980, Travolta inspired the nationwide music craze that followed behind him and his hit film, Urban Cowboy. During the late
70’s to mid 80’s, John Travolta put the breaks on his career for a while. The only hit film during that time was shared with Kirstie Allen in Look Who’s Talking. It was not until Travolta got to star as Vincent Vega in the sensational movie Pulp Fiction in 1994 that his career skyrocketed again. That year he received an Academy Award nomination which revived his career. The following year John Travolta also stared in Get Shorty. He also played the role of an FBI agent in Face/Off. Finally, in 1998 John Travolta played a desperate attorney in another hit movie A Civil Action and in 1999 stared in The Generals Daughter. John Travolta definitely had his share of fame.
Please induct John Joseph Travolta into the New Jersey Hall of Fame because he so deserves it. Travolta should be noticed not only on national television, but in the Hall of Fame as well.
